iPod Playlist: Sleepy Time

Periodically I will post a playlist I've composed, particularly if I've published it as an iMix on iTunes, as I have with this one.

The point of the "Sleepy Time" playlist is pretty much what it sounds like. This is a collection of some great tunes to fall asleep to, if you're like me and can fall asleep to music, or have a touch of tinitis and from time to time have to fall asleep to some kind of noise or music to drown out the rining. It's quite simple, set your iPod's "sleep timer" to 90 or 120 minutes (or less if it takes less for you), tell your iPod to shuffle songs within a playlist if you don't already have it set to do so, pop in the earbuds and sweet dreams! You'll notice this particular playlist is heavy on the Michael W. Smith and Roger Whittaker. I don't know why, I just find the voices easy to fall asleep to I guess. :)

Ah yes. Isn't it beautiful? Marketing disguised as a personal contact. Is anyone falling for this? At any point do Marketing teams think to themselves, "Maybe we're irritating people with our advertising schemes and ruining our word-of-mouth?" Just yesterday I received a credit card ad in the mail, but this time it was most cleverly made to look like something from the IRS. I wish there was a www.donotspam.gov list similar to donotcall. I could always disallow these kinds of comments, but then what would I complain about on my lunch hour?! :) |

I got it. Credit card junkmailers particularly, must think that when we open the letter that cleverly appears to be a check from the IRS, a bank statement, or a letter from the government telling us there's been a tragic accident and they owe us money, they must think we open these, and upon realizing it's ANOTHER Capital One offer for a card with a limit that we should never be allowed to have and aren't the least tempted to call them right up and set the wheels in motion for a 26.7% interest rate that we smile widely and chuckle. "Oh those guys at Capital One...they got me again," and then wink and thumbs up to the camera like some sort of bad Mentos commercial. Capital One, the Fresh Maker. |

Just happened upon your blog. Your topic was great, well thought out. Want to buy a singing fish? If so head on over to my site, Singin' Fish Emporium! Hey look Elvis! ----->

Ha, ha, seriously... Roger Whittaker?! Madonna!? Are you trying to undermine your credibility with your musical insights!? ;-)

Have a great day. That reminds me, I should find "Desert Rose" and that Dido song. Take care,
    Dan

P.S. You should turn on the new comment spam inhibitor. It works well. |

Dan pondered: "Are you trying to undermine your credibility with your musical insights!?"

Quite the opposite Dano. I've come to find that when it comes to music, I just gotta be me. If I like something, I've stopped worrying about whether it's 'cool' to like it and trimming my playlists accordingly. Those with true music appreciation may not like it, but will appreciate my ecclecticness and willingness to go out on a limb and say I like something even though the masses may ridicule me for it. Keep in mind too...this is music I fall asleep to, and that's also the only Madonna song I own.

And don't knock the Roger Whittaker. |

    Good point.

Although, a playlist to fall asleep to, shouldn't be nearly that long. ;-)

Here's my playlist to fall asleep to:

    1. Moby - We Are All Made of Stars.

I think a playlist to fall asleep to should be no less than 100 songs. Otherwise you wind up hearing the same songs every night, and that will frustrate me just enough to keep me awake. Variety is key, which is why I have tunes from Blink 182 and Enya in the same list.

But I will have to check out that Moby song.

Hey! That's a cool smiley face!

That hairdo is dated to your high school days though. You might need to use this:

The point with Moby is that it's a Moby smooth sounding repetitive song that should put anyone to sleep the first time, every time. (C;-D

Personally, I usually fall asleep with one of the fine selections from this company in my hand.

By the way, I love that Blink song. Their duets are awesome. Excellent vocal contrast.

I've been camping at the beach here most every weekend lately and have tried some of the privately owned and free camp sites with no noise restrictions or anything called "quiet time". So I tend to either end up at campgrounds that feature camp-wide late night kareoke or next to someone that decides to leave there car running all night so that they can pump their car stereo noise into the great outdoor until early morning hours. Therefore my "playlist to fall asleep to" is as follows:

Uncle Jed (who's drinking while singing) - Email My Heart (Britney Spears Kareoke)

Annette of Toledo, Oregon singing "Redneck Woman" (originally by Gretchen Wilson) in such a way that captures the pure essence of the song and almost brings a tear to the eye . . . well, until she puts a bigger piece of chew in her lip and starts slurring her words a bit more.

Rob Zombie - "I Hate You, You're All Going to Die A Miserable Death, Where's My Gun, Now I'm Going to Bark Like a Dog." (I think that's what its called) - Proudly pumped out of the neighbor camper's car at 147 decibles until 3 AM (serious about the 3 AM part)

That's the end of my play list as I seem to fall asleep before I hear anymore. By the way I may have the title of the Rob Zombie song mixed up with another one, the one I'm thinking of may be called, "Die You Sick Freaks!!!! BlllleeeeeeaaaaaaAAAAAHHHH!!!!! I Hate You AAAAALLLLLL" But I think Itunes may be able to help you locate the proper title name. |

I think that song was most commonly performed by Insane Clown Posse. ;-) |

Mike you've been following me, haven't you? Checking out all those "bands" that open for Creswell and scare away the "fans". That's what they do when they're not on stage before us...they infiltrate campgrounds and "sing" covers of screamo tunes.

You can literally see me making the quotation marks with my fingers, can't you?
